(August 2024) Zhao Xiaolei spends a lot of time thinking about digital transformation.
She leads the Investment and Technology Promotion Office at the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Shanghai.
To be meaningful, she says, digital transformation has to deliver value by creating jobs, improving the economy, protecting the environment – or, ideally, all three.
“More than 60% of intellectual property rights have happened in the industrial manufacturing sectors,” she tells Huawei Editor-in-Chief Gavin Allen in a new video interview for Transform Talks. “The Fourth Industrial Revolution is being driven by technology upgrades.”
Zhao adds that ICT can also contribute to achieving many of the UN’s 17 Sustainability Development Goals.
To revolutionize manufacturing and create greener supply chains, she says, “We rely on digital infrastructure structure for its stability, safety, and openness.”
