1. How We Collect and Use Your Personal Data

After you read and agree to this Policy, Huawei will collect and process your personal information online and offline to provide you with high-quality services and information regarding activities. In the following sections, we will describe how we process your personal information, including the scenarios, types, methods, and purposes involved.

1.1 To help you sign up for activities and enjoy these online and offline experiences, we will collect your personal information like your name, gender, nationality, email address, phone number, organization/company, industry, and position via Huawei's official website, Huawei's Congress Information Management System (CIMS), event marketing platform (Events), and other channels approved by you. Providing this information helps you register for the Event. To comply with laws and regulations regarding security management for large-scale events, organizers must implement real-name registration and entry. As part of this process, we will require valid identification information, such as your ID card number, passport number, number of Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, or number of Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents. Upon successful registration, an Event ID will be automatically generated for you, which will be displayed on your badge.

1.2 To make it easier for you to attend the Event, we will send information related to the Event to the email address you used to register. This includes notifications about your registration status, your attendee ID, and reminders about the Event.

1.3 To comply with laws and regulations regarding security management for large-scale events, organizers must implement real-name registration and entry. We will check your identity when you enter the venue.

  • Opting for the use of facial recognition for Event entry involves the collection of your facial recognition data on site, which is then compared with the information linked to your ID card or badge. If an ID card is used for comparison, the device does not retain the facial recognition data. However, if a badge is used, the facial recognition data must be pre-recorded and stored, but the original face images will not be saved. It is important to note that facial recognition is not obligatory, and manual verification is also an option. The facial recognition device is applicable only to holders of the ID cards of the People's Republic of China. If you possess other certificates, such as a passport or travel permits, manual verification is required.
  • If you choose manual verification and have submitted ID information during registration, our staff will ask you to enter your name, email address, ID number, or mobile number on a Portable Digital Assistant (PDA) device to verify your identity and permissions. If you have picked up your badge, our staff will use the PDA to scan your badge ID to check your personal data, including name, organization name, access permissions, and anonymized ID number.

1.4 When collecting your badge at the Event, you will need to enter your name, email address, mobile number, or ID number on the PDA to verify your identity.

1.5 Your badge displays the name and company name you have entered during registration, as well as your attendee ID. When you attend a keynote speech, summit, session, or roundtable, the on-site staff will use a PDA to scan your attendee ID to check whether you have been granted access to the event. To make it easier for you to enter the keynote venue, we have installed a smart sensing device at the entrance. Your badge has a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip. When you enter the venue, the device will automatically record your attendee ID based on the RFID. Such information will be used for entry management and attendance statistics. Please note that no location or movement track information will be collected during this process.

1.6 To make it easier for you to access the internet at the Event, we offer free Wi-Fi access that you can choose to use based on your needs. However, to provide this service, we need to collect personal information such as your name, company, phone number, IP address, MAC address, as well as login and logout times of your mobile device.

1.7 During the Event, we will arrange for staff members to take photos and videos of the Event inside the venue, as well as conduct interviews. Your personal information such as your image and voice may be used for recording and promoting the Event, including electronic records, video tapes, audio tapes, and photographs. These recordings will only be used for publicity purposes. If you do not wish to be captured on camera or do not want Huawei to use any recordings related to you, please contact us promptly.

1.8 When you experience our showcased products or services at the Event, we will collect necessary personal information to deliver the experience. Please refer to the privacy statement displayed at the booth for details.

1.9 You can access the Personal Center through the Event's official website to check the event agenda, benefits, and other relevant information. During this process, we will collect the email address you used for login.

1.10 To deliver a better attendance experience, we provide a dedicated mobile app (Huawei Connect) for the Event. This app allows you to easily access the Personal Center, where you can view Event information, save sessions to your Favorites, and schedule sessions. During this process, we will collect necessary personal information. For details, please refer to the privacy statement of the app.

1.11 During the Event, we may invite you to log in to or register for mobile apps related to Huawei business, such as the Joint Definition Community, HUAWEI eKit, and eFly, to understand your requirements for Huawei products or services, helping us improve our products and services. These apps may need to process your personal information. Please refer to the privacy statement of the specific app for details. You can choose not to use these apps, which will not affect your participation at the Event.

1.12 When you participate in other Event-related activities such as surveys, check-ins, and lucky draws, we will collect necessary personal information to enhance the experience. Please refer to the privacy statement of the relevant activities for more information.

We may also use your personal information for the following purposes:

(a) Providing you with services or specific experiences.

(b) Inviting you to participate in online or offline activities.

(c) Making changes to your request or providing your requested information (e.g., marketing documents or white papers for products or services); and providing technical support.

(d) Contacting you with your consent; sending you information about products and services that may interest you; inviting you to participate in Huawei activities (including promotional activities), market surveys, or satisfaction surveys; sending you marketing information. If you do not want to receive this type of information, you can unsubscribe at any time.

(e) Providing you with personalized user experiences and content.

(f) Conducting internal audits, data analysis, and research to improve our products and services.

(g) Analyzing the efficiency of our business operations and evaluating the market share.

(h) Complying with and enforcing applicable legal requirements, industry standards, or our policies.

Huawei may also collect and use non-personally identifiable information (non-PII). Non-PII refers to information that cannot be used to identify a particular individual. For example, we may collect summarized statistics such as website visits. Huawei collects this data to understand how users use our websites, products, and services to improve service quality and user experience. We reserve the right to collect, use, transfer, or disclose non-PII at our discretion. We will endeavor to isolate your personal information from non-PII and ensure that the two types of data are used separately. If personal information is mixed with non-PII, it will still be regarded as personal information during processing.

When processing your personal information, we comply with the requirements of applicable laws on an appropriate legal basis in the following scenarios:

(1) Processing your personal information to fulfill a contract when responding to your service request.

(2) Processing your personal information with your consent.

(3) We may also process your personal information when necessary to comply with and perform applicable legal obligations, as well as to cooperate with government agencies, including but not limited to laws related to security and environment in the monitored areas of the Event venues.

2.1 Cookie

A cookie is a text file stored by a web server on a computer or mobile device. The content of a cookie can be retrieved or read only by the server that creates the cookie. Each cookie is unique to your web browser or mobile application. Cookies usually contain identifiers, site names, numbers and characters. Our website uses cookies to store data about your preferences and other information.

Like many other websites and Internet service providers, we use cookies to enhance user experience. For example, when you receive an email from Huawei, it may contain a click-through URL that links to a Huawei web page. If you click the link, Huawei will follow your visit to help us understand your preferences for products and services and improve our customer service. A web beacon is usually a transparent graphic image embedded in a website or email. We use pixel tags to determine whether an email has been opened. If you want to exercise your rights, please contact us via huaweiconnect@huawei.com or the address provided at the end of this Policy. For security, we may ask you to put your request in writing. We may decline requests if we have reasonable grounds to believe that the requests are fraudulent or unfeasible or may jeopardize the privacy of others.

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time when we process your personal information based on your consent. However, the withdrawal does not affect the legitimacy or effectiveness of how we process your personal information based on your consent before the revocation, nor does it affect any data processing based on a legal basis other than your consent.

Huawei attaches great importance to the security of personal information. We use appropriate physical, organizational, and technical measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, use, modification, damage, or loss.
